The SSI History

|
The SSI Distribution Center is the offspring of two innovative and highly successful retail supermarket chains. In 1991, the grocery warehouse was built with 650,000 sq ft. Later in 1994, SSI expanded by adding 150,000 sq ft for a frozen food warehouse. What began many years ago, by two different families, has evolved into a unique partnership with similar interests and goals. Today there are over 250 retail stores, such as Bel Air, Food Maxx, Food Source, Nob Hill, Raleys and Save Mart; SSI's main responsibility is to provide goods for these stores on a just in time system. Over the years SSI has helped these stores achieve a level of productivity never though possible. Today annual sales exceed US$3 billion, which has earned these retailers a 20% market share in the highly competitive Northern and Central California region. As a result, SSI has a strong commitment to continue expanding into newer areas of procurement, sales and technology.
